In the summer before my freshman year of high school, I attended my first volleyball clinic. I had a great experience and fell in love with the sport. I went to Mission San Jose High School and played on the volleyball team for three years. Although I was cut from the team my senior year, I did not let that discourage me. I sought out other ways to stay involved and became an assistant for the Junior Varsity Boys team at Mission San Jose High as well as for Endline's 18-1 Girls team which was coached by Coach Donny at the time. After graduating high school, I attended Cal Poly to get my B.S. in Computer Science. In the four years I attended college, I continued to stay involved with volleyball, winning multiple intramural championships and playing in various amateur tournaments.
Since moving back to the Bay Area, I've continued to fuel my passion for the sport. I coach for Endline Volleyball Club during the girls season and I also assist with the Mission San Jose High girls team. In my spare time, I play in multiple adult leagues and tournaments and I am also a member of the 9 Man Volleyball team SF Dragons Dynasty.
I Graduated at American HS in 2009 and have been coaching volleyball since 2011. I was the assistant coach for girls and boys at American High School in 2011 and helped the boys qualify for NCS in 2012 and 2013. I eventually became the JV Boys Head Coach at Mission San Jose High School and went undefeated in 2013, and then the JV Girls Head Coach from 2014 to present.
Outside of volleyball, I enjoy working out, playing volleyball, and going on adventures with friends.
Here are a few fun facts about myself. I used to break dance. I torn my meniscus doing a double backflip on the trampoline. I can speak Vietnamese but can't write in Vietnamese.
I started volleyball late during my sophomore year of high school. The only reason I tried out for the volleyball team was because I was cut from the basketball team! Even though I was sad about not making the basketball team, I never would have guessed how much volleyball would change my life. I went on to become the captain of my high school varsity team at Mission San Jose High School (2001-2003), played for the San Jose State University Men's Volleyball Club Team (2005-2009), and NorCal Premier (2013-2015). I also play for the 9 Man Volleyball team, Dragon Fire. Needless to say, I have a deep passion for the game of volleyball and love to share it with everyone.
I'm passionate about coaching because I get to work with young athletes and teach them how to be great volleyball players as well as great people. The relationships formed when competing, losing, winning, and laughing with each other are truly gratifying and one of a kind. I've been the head coach of Mission San Jose High School Girls Volleyball Team since 2006, Club Director and Head Coach of Warrior Volleyball Club (2005 - 2006), Head Coach for various teams ranging from 16-1 to 18-1 boys and girls teams at Endline Volleyball Club (2007 - 2014), and now the Club Director for Elevate Volleyball Club.
I am the founder of Elevate Yourself, which is a Volleyball and Athletic Training company that inspires people of all ages and walks of life to achieve their sports, athletic, and life goals.
